BIZZY BEES 2025:
Pre-Kindy Program
Welcome to BizzyBees Handbook
Starting Kindergarten is a big milestone—but with Bizzy Bees, your child will feel right at home before their very first day! Our program is designed to gently introduce children (and parents!) to the Toodyay District High School environment through fun, hands-on learning and meaningful parent involvement.
By the time Kindy begins, your little one will already be familiar with the routines, the surroundings, and the friendly faces—making that first year of school feel exciting, comfortable, and full of possibility.
Let’s make this important transition a joyful one—together!

A Confident Start with Bizzy Bees
The Bizzy Bee Pre-Kindy Program is designed to create a supportive, fun, and enriching environment where children develop key foundational skills for their transition to Kindergarten.
What We Focus On and How You Can Support at Home
Building Early Learning Skills
Encourage a love for books – Visit the local library and let your child choose stories. Read aloud, point to pictures, and discuss the story.
Introduce writing & drawing – Draw and write together while talking about the process.
Support early numeracy – Integrate numbers into daily activities (e.g., “We need four plates on the table”).
Explore everyday maths – Incorporate counting and problem-solving into bath time, outdoor play, and cooking.
Use measurement words – Encourage vocabulary such as full/empty, big/small, tall/short, heavy/light.
Familiarising Your Child with School
Visit the school together – Talk about the exciting experiences they’ll have and the new friends they’ll make.
Shop for school supplies – Make selecting a lunch box, drink bottle, bag, and uniform a fun experience. A list of requirements will be provided upon enrolment.
Encourage independence – Practise opening containers and food wrappers.
Label belongings – Clearly mark uniforms and personal items with their name to prevent mix-ups.
Connect with other families – Introduce yourself to fellow parents and engage with the school community.
Building Social & Emotional Readiness
Organise playdates – Help your child socialise with other children starting Kindergarten.
Develop a morning routine – Establish a structured “get ready for school” routine for a smooth transition.
Provide nutritious meals – Ensure balanced meals and snacks to keep energy levels steady.
Create a positive school mindset – A cheerful start to school helps shape how children feel about learning in the long term.
Health & Wellbeing Essentials
Prioritise sleep – Begin a bedtime routine a few weeks before school starts to support good sleep habits.
Practise toileting skills – Help your child manage their toileting independently, including wiping and pulling pants up.
Parent Involvement & Support
Stay engaged with teachers – Communicate openly, ask questions, and share both positive and constructive feedback.
Be involved in the school community – Foster connections with other parents and educators to support your child’s journey.
